It refers to being a summer weather coffee perfect for the hot days. Very similar to the Mazagran and to an extent the ice shot or café con Hielo, the café del tiempo differs in the way it is served more than anything else. The coffee, an espresso or café solo, is served in one cup freshly brewed. On the side is a glass of ice, often spiked with a slice of lemon. The coffee is poured over the ice by the customer before drinking.
